Get The Look – A Relaxing Guest Bedroom
When it comes to decorating our homes we tend to neglect the guest room. This might be because we’ve filled it with junk – or simply because we never sleep in it ourselves. Here at Perch & Parrow we think it’s time to give your guest room some love. Use the space to experiment with colours and styles that you might not use elsewhere. Invest in a sofa bed and in effect you’ve created two rooms in one.
Here we’ve gone for a relaxed look that combines a muted colour palette with a myriad of textures to create heaps of character and cosiness. Follow our three easy steps to ensure your guests (and you) can rest easy.
Define your palette
It sounds obvious but a considered approach to colour will ensure that nothing jars, thus helping to create a sense of calm. You can still mix colours, for example here we’ve used a selection of pinks and blues to create a neutral, subtly feminine look. Our Lolly sofa bed in Grace Kelly is the anchor for the whole scheme, think delicate but not wishy-washy.
Mix materials
This room effortlessly combines a multitude of material finishes and textures. Our Desi floor lamp and Caesar side table add a subtle splash of glamour with their brass finishes. This is contrasted by the concrete frame of our Portal round mirror. Finishing touches like our Moonstone vase are an easy way into exploring this look. Think of them as little highlights rather than overwhelming your space with too much clutter.
Use subtle patterns
Our Adelaide rug and Jasper cushion sport subtle dying techniques, that create pleasing organic patterns. Introducing subtle decorative elements like these will add a bit of depth to your scheme. They can also be easily layered up with block colours like our Herbie throw in blue.
