Inject Cosiness into your Living Room

Now Autumn is finally here and the nights are drawing in, it may be time to spruce up your lounge, ready for curling up in the colder, cosier evenings.

Let’s start with colour. If you have a larger space to play with, bolder, richer shades can work to your advantage. Spicy and invigorating hues, such as yellows, reds and oranges evoke warmth and energy. In contrast, soothing shades of blue, green, pale grey and purples are a smarter choice to achieve a calming effect in your living space.

Invest in a new sofa. We believe the ultimate cosiness is stretching out and sinking into a plump sofa, right? Choose a style that compliments the character and the size of your home. Check out our handy measuring guide here. Depth is also an element to factor in, as well as the angle of the sofa as this will measure how comfortable you feel. Try measuring the distance from the inside of your knee to where your lower back hits the back of a sofa. Scribble down those dimensions and voila! this will be the ideal sofa depth to search for.

Sofa fabric is important. We advise going neutral, so you have the freedom to play around with colour in other areas. If you are unsure on your scheme and are in the early days of planning, order a selection of our free fabric samples. Neutral furniture, in general, gives you leeway to experiment with colour. Match vibrant accent walls with soft furnishings, such as throws, cushions and rugs. This will balance the room as well as adding soft, cosy, textures.
