The Upholstery Buying Guide
Not sure where to start when picking fabric, overwhelmed by choice, and not sure of the look you are trying to create? We have some handy tips on where to start.
Start with one element you are sure on – a colour, fabric choice or sofa shape. This will help you narrow down the options.
Fabric – Velvet
Is best with busy shapes – think buttoned backed or scallop shaped. Great for accent chairs too as the raised texture really helps the colour stand out.
Our current favourites are the Rose chair in High Tea and our James sofa in Trident’s Entourage.
Colour – Greys
Go with everything and look cool and contemporary, especially when you find the right texture. Our Joan armchair in London Bridge does grey gracefully and a sure-fire family favourite is our Nicholas 3-seater sofa in Direwolf Grey.
Colour confidence
It’s great fun to experiment on our website trying out your favourite furniture styles in different colour and pattern options.
Our top three breaks from beige are our Paul armchair in Lighthouse Keeper for a classy accent piece, our luxe Lucy Ottoman in Tatum Geo Shimmer and a subtle sophisticated floral like our Peter 3-seater in Aunt Agatha.
Once you’ve received 6 free fabric samples
The first thing we always do is strew our fabric samples around the room to see how they work with the colour of the walls, the floor and our favourite furniture pieces. So far so good, but then how do they look under different light?
Once you’ve found just the right fabric it’s time to think about shape – and this is where the Perch & Parrow website is especially handy as you can see every piece of made to order furniture in any fabric option. Give it a try.
